Bringing Joy and Unity to Student Iftars and Celebrations

This Ramadan, we had the honour of working with 11 Islamic Societies (ISOCs) from universities across the UK — helping to make their iftar dinners and Eid events extra special with themed decorations, tailored to their needs.

From Cambridge to Cardiff, Newcastle, Bristol, and more, each ISOC was given a budget to select decorations of their choice, primarily for Ramadan but also including a few Eid-specific requests. These decorations were used to transform university halls, dining spaces, and prayer rooms into welcoming environments that brought students together to break their fasts and celebrate.

From Daily Iftars to One-Off Celebrations

It was inspiring to see how each university approached Ramadan in its own way:

  • Cambridge University ISOC hosted iftar dinners every night, offering students a daily space for food, reflection, and unity.

  • Other universities, like Newcastle and Cardiff, held one-off or occasional iftars, creating memorable nights of connection.

  • Warwick University stood out by organising around 15 iftars throughout the month, anticipating around 500 attendees per evening — a true testament to the power of student-led initiatives.

Whether large-scale or intimate, each event played a role in supporting Muslim students during the blessed month, and we’re proud to have contributed in our small way.

A Personal Touch, Designed by Students

One of the things we loved most about this initiative was giving each ISOC the freedom to choose their own decoration style — from lanterns and crescent moons to banners and table settings. The result? Events that reflected the personalities of the students behind them, while keeping the spirit of Ramadan and Eid at heart.

Looking Ahead

We’re so grateful for the trust each ISOC placed in us and hope this marks the beginning of more collaborations with universities across the UK. Whether it’s for Ramadan, Eid, or other Islamic events, we’re here to support student communities in creating beautiful, welcoming spaces for worship and celebration.

If you’re part of an ISOC or student group and want to collaborate next year, feel free to reach out — we’d love to work with you. Contact us here.
