Palestine holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims around the world. It is a land that has been blessed by Allah(SWT) and is home to many prophets and sacred sites. In these times of great hardship and suffering, we turn to the Quran for solace and guidance.

In the following post, we are going to reflect on these divine words, and make dua for the people of Palestine, that they may find peace, justice, and relief at this terrible time.

1. Surah Al-Isra (17:1)

“Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.”

This is a verse that highlights the importance of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. It is a blessed and sacred site. The Night Journey of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Mecca to Jerusalem explains the spiritual and historical importance of Palestine. It reminds us of the divine connection and the blessings bestowed upon this holy land.

Al-Aqsa sanctuary is not only a place of worship, but a symbol of Islamic heritage. Reflecting on this verse, we are reminded of our duty to protect and honor the sanctity of this site.

2. Surah Al-Anibya (21:71)

“And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds.”

Allah(SWT) refers to delivering the Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Lot to the blessed land, often understood to encompass the region of Palestine. This verse highlights the importance of this land, and is a testament to the special status Palestine holds in Islamic tradition. It serves as a reminder of the blessings of this land.

3. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286)

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear…”

This important quote is an assurance from Allah(SWT) that, in his wisdom and mercy, he does not place upon us a greater burden than we can bear. It is a reminder for all of our inherent strength and resilience granted by Allah(SWT).

In times of adversity, such as those faced by the people of Palestine, this verse serves as a reminder of their ability to endure and overcome. We make dua for their continued strength and peace, knowing that Allah’s(SWT) support is always with them.

4. Surah At-Tawbah (9:51)

“Say, ‘Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector.’ And upon Allah let the believers rely.”

This verse emphasizes the importance of trust in Allah’s(SWT) decree and recognizing Him as our ultimate protector. It teaches us to rely on Allah(SWT) during times of difficulty.

5. Surah Ash-Sharh (94:5-6)

“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.”

Allah(SWT) promises here that after every hardship endured, there is ease. This part of the text is ingeniously repeated, emphasizing the certainty of relief following struggle. This verse gives hope to the people of Palestine, and anyone else who seeks help through prayer.

6. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:45)

“And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah].”

This verse explains the importance of prayer and patience, showing that these practices require humility and submission to Allah(SWT). The people of Palestine can draw strength from this verse, knowing that their perseverance and humility will be rewarded. We make dua for their humility and strength in these heart-breaking times.

7. Surah Al-Imran (3:139)

“So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.”

Finally, this verse encourages believers not to lose heart or despair. It can be easy to look at the tragedy in Palestine and lose hope - but Allah (SWT) ensures us that in the face of oppression, our faith will ultimately grant those who are oppressed victory. We make dua for their faith.

Our book for Palestine

When we at My Salah Mat learned about the tragedy in Palestine, we wanted to do something to help. That’s why we created a new children’s book called “The Key, the Olive Tree and the Nakba.” This is a touching book for kids, filled with colorful pictures and a story about family, history and the place we call home. It serves as a reminder for what the Palestinians have been through and still go through to this day.

This book is all about giving, as all proceeds go to charity. By bringing this book into your home, you’re not just sharing a story with your children, you’re also helping the people of Palestine.

Palestine - you are always in our Duas.
