This Mother and Son Are Opening the Doors of Salah to Children with Disabilities

Alhamdulillah — our documentary is now live.
This emotional short film follows the journey of Shabs, a devoted mother, and her son Eisa, a joyful young boy with Down syndrome. It’s a story of love, faith, and the extraordinary power of inclusion.
Their story isn’t just inspiring — it’s transformational.

Why We Made This Documentary
For Kamal Ali, founder of My Salah Mat, this project began with a single heartfelt intention:
“I just wanted to meet Eisa.”
Kamal invented the Interactive Prayer Mat to help his own child learn Salah. What began as a family solution soon grew into something greater — helping reverts, Muslims reconnecting with prayer, and now, through Eisa, children with disabilities.
“This is more than a product. It’s about every soul — no matter their ability — experiencing the beauty of Salah and the words of Allah.”
For Kamal, this project is also personal. He grew up with a sister who had a mental disability — the light of his family. Her pure heart continues to inspire the values behind My Salah Mat today.
A Moment That Moved Us All
When we premiered the documentary in our office, it left everyone silent. It was emotional. It was powerful. And it reaffirmed our purpose.
Shabs is a role model for every parent raising a child with a disability.
Eisa, with his bright spirit and sincere love for Allah, is a role model for the entire Ummah.
Their story is a reminder that faith has no barriers. And that every child deserves the opportunity to build a connection with their Creator.

Shabs and Eisa are now fundraising to provide specially discounted Interactive Prayer Mats for other children with disabilities.
